The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is charged with primary responsibility for enforcing the Fair Housing Act (FHA). The Division of Human and Civil Rights is substantially equivalent to HUD in investigating charges of housing discrimination in Delaware. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) also pursues fair housing claims under certain circumstances, such as when there is an alleged pattern or practice of discrimination. Read fair housing administrative decisions and more from both agencies below.
Sometimes, HUD gets parties involved in a fair housing dispute to settle their claims and voluntarily sign a conciliation agreement.
Select cases from the Housing and Civil Enforcement Section of the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ. Cases are sorted by category and include summaries, complaints, settlement agreements and consent decrees, judgments, and/or press releases.
